The first National Green Infrastructure Certification Program (NGICP) Exam (operational pretest) was held on December 13, 2016 at the following locations:

  • Washington, D.C.
  • Baltimore, Md.
  • Rockville, Md.
  • Harrisburg, Pa.
  • Pittsburgh, Pa.
  • Fairfax, Va.
  • Milwaukee, Wis.

Over 90 applicants sat for the exam.  Based upon the results, first certifications will be awarded in early 2017. The three-hour exam consisted of 141 questions that tested applicants on their knowledge of entry-level green infrastructure fundamentals, construction methods,inspection techniques and maintenance procedures in accordance with the exam blueprint.  The exam item performance data will be used to create a 100-question standardized exam that will be used when the national roll-out of the NGICP occurs.
